The OTML Board of Directors holds primary responsibility for the governance of OTML and operates in accordance with our constitution and applicable legislation.

Supporting the Board are three standing committees – Appointment and Remuneration, Audit and Risk and Safety Health, Environment and Community (SHEC).

 

 

Jeffery Innes

Chairman

Chairman – Remuneration Committee

Jeff holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) and a Diploma in Financial Management.

He is a member of the AusIMM where he currently serves as a Fellow and Vice Chairman of the North Queensland Branch; and also a Graduate Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

Jeff is a professional leader with high integrity and demonstrated performance in operations management, strategic planning in mines, feasibilities, mine expansions, and HR restructuring. 

Jeff possesses a progressive style of leadership, with strong customer focus and an ability to view the organisation in a global context. his management style involves focusing teams on value-adding priorities.

His commodity experience includes zinc, silver, lead, iron ore, gold, copper, uranium, and coal.

Jeff as worked across senior management levels at a number of companies, including General Manager positions with MIM, Joy global, HSE Mining, BHP, Ok Tedi Mining Limited (PNG), as well as Chief Operating Officer for Conquest Mining.

Dr. Ila Temu

Dr Temu is Chairman of Kumul Minerals Holdings Ltd. He was the Country Manager (PNG) for Barrick (Niugini) Limited (BNL), a role he held since June 2001 where he oversaw government relations, public affairs and industry coalition management. Prior to this role, he was Director Corporate Affairs, Australia Pacific.

Dr Temu previously worked for Placer Dome Niugini from 2000 as the General Manager, Government Relations and had also served as General Manager for the company’s Tanzania operation.

Prior to joining Placer Dome, Dr Temu was the Managing Director of Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC), a state-owned organisation that managed landowner equity in major mining and petroleum interests throughout PNG.

He has also held senior positions within a number of public organisations, including a term as a Director of the National Research Institute in PNG; Research Director for the Pacific Islands Program at the Australian National University, Canberra; and Senior Lecturer at the University of Papua New Guinea.

Dr Temu has also held a number of Board Directorships/Memberships in PNG including Dome Resources Ltd, MRDC, Kina Finances Ltd, PNG Incentive Fund, National Economic Fiscal Commission, Independent Public Business Corporation and the Employees Federation of PNG. He was Chairman of PNG Ports Corporation for five years, Director of Bank of South Pacific for 13 years, Chairman of Bank South Pacific (BSP) Capital for three years, and President of the Chamber of Mines and Petroleum for three years. He is currently Director of Kina Bank, Director of Kina Petroleum Ltd, Director of Kumul Petroleum Holdings Ltd, and a Council Member of the Divine Word University.
Dr Temu holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Papua New Guinea, a Masters in Agricultural Development Economics from the Australia National University, Canberra Australia and a Ph.D in Agricultural Economics from the University of California, Davis, USA.

 

Bonny Ninai

Bonny currently serves as Chairman of Kumul Minerals Ok Tedi Limited and is a Director of the Kumul Minerals Holdings Limited Board.

He is a Lawyer by profession, is admitted to the bar, and has been a senior legal practitioner for over 30 years.

He commenced his career with the Department of Justice and Attorney General serving as Legal Officer (State Solicitor’s Office) in 1988, prior to being promoted to Assistant Secretary (Executive Branch), Deputy Solicitor General and Acting Solicitor General (Solicitor General’s Office) before he moved to the private sector as Senior Associate with Patterson Lawyers, Principal of Ninai Lawyers, and Consultant to Kup & Co Lawyers.

In 1995, Bonny was appointed as instructing Solicitor on behalf of the State where he assisted the Ok Tedi and BHP legal team in the Ok Tedi Environmental Litigation case in Melbourne in 1995. 

He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from University of PNG which he attained in 1987, and a Master of Laws (Corporate and Commercial) Degree from University of Adelaide attained in 1998. Post graduate qualifications he has also attained included a Certificate in Legal Training from the Legal Training Institute in 1987, and Certificate in Legal Drafting and Negotiation of Public and International Contracts from University of London in 1994.

Bonny has served as Director on a number of Boards including the National Gaming Control Board, the National Forests Board, Motor Vehicles Insurance Limited Board, and as Chairman of Pacific Re Limited Board.

He has also attended and successfully completed the Company Directors Courses in 2007 conducted by the Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce, and in 2019 by the Australian Institute of Directors

Augustine Mano

Chairman – Audit and Risk Committee

Augustine currently serves as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC), a position he has held since March 2008.

In addition to holding a Master’s of Science in Petroleum Economics from Dundee University, Scotland, he holds a double Degree in Economics and Arts majoring in Environmental Science from the University of Papua New Guinea.

Augustine has extensive experience in the mining and petroleum industries with a focus on business development and investment management. He has previously served as a consultant to the Department of Petroleum and Energy. In his current role with MRDC, he manages major investments in property development and hospitality.

He serves as a director of MRDC and numerous related companies, Bank South Pacific, PNG Air, Hevilift Group and other private companies. He is also Chairman of the Pearl South Pacific Resort in Fiji, Star Mountains Plaza in PNG and Taumeasina Resort in Samoa.

Augustine is currently chairman of the OTML Audit and Risk Committee.

Robert Kaiyun

Member – Safety, Health and Environment and Community Committee

Robert is the Provincial Administrator for Western Province. He was acting in this position from January 2018 until his permanent appointment in August 2018.

He holds a Diploma in Public Administration from the PNG Institute of Public Administration, in addition to a Bachelor of Management and a Master of Leadership in Business Administration from the Divine Word University in Madang.

Robert is chief advisor to the Fly River Provincial Government and team leader for the Western Province Administration, responsible for the implementation of policies, plans and programs for service delivery and development administration in the province.

He has been actively engaged in Local Level Government (LLG) functions in Western Province for a number of years – including responsibility for the coordination of LLG Operations, provision of strategic leadership and management of transport and institutional infrastructure development.

Sarimu Kanu

Sarimu is currently the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kumul Minerals Holdings Limited since January 2023.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mining from the Western Australia School of Mines and Curtin University of Technology in Australia.

Prior to his current role, Sarimu was the Country Manager for Frieda River Limited, Pan-Aust Limited from March 2022 to December 2022. 

Sarimu has a wealth of industry knowledge and experience having worked in various mines in Papua New Guinea such as Ramu Nico Management (MCC) Limited as Registered Mine General Manager and Tolukuma Gold Mine Limited as Mine General Manager and at Ok Tedi Mining Limited as Manager, Supply and Logistics among a few. 

He served as a Registered Mine General Manager for Niuminco Limited in Morobe Province from September 2010 to September 2012 and was also the Registered Mine Manager at Bestino, Wau, Morobe Province from October 2009 to July 2010. From 1997 to 2002 Sarimu was Manager Mineral Division for Orogen Minerals Limited overseeing OML’s interests in projects like Porgera, Lihir, Misima Mine and Ramu Nickel Project.

Sarimu has also worked in other industries including the British American Tobacco as a Supply Chain Manager from October 2005 to February 2007.

Sarimu’s other professional appointments include being appointed as a Member of the Board of Examiners of Mineral Resources Authority, PNG.

 

Marjella Meles

Director (Independent)

Marjella currently serves as Director of Kumul Minerals Ok Tedi Limited in his capacity as a Director on the Board of Kumul Minerals Holdings Limited He has been a member of Kumul Minerals since October 2020 serving on the Finance and Investment Committees and in other Kumul Mineral subsidiaries.

He is a Geotechnical Engineer by profession and has been working in the mining industry for over two decades in the commodities of gold, iron ore and coal.

He started his career at Porgera Mine with Placer Dome Inc. He also spent some time at Lihir Mine and since 2005 has been working abroad with several mining companies including Rio tinto and BHP Billiton where he ultimately worked as a Principal Engineer providing advice to existing mining operations, brown-fields, greenfield, mine closure and assert acquisition. 

He holds qualifications from Australian Institute of Management, a Bachelors Degree in Geology from the University of Papua New Guinea and a Masters Degree in Mining Engineering from the University of New South Wales.  He is a Chartered Professional with the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and a Registered Engineer with the Board of Professional Engineers Queensland (RPEQ).
