McLaughlin) Date: August 2003 This report comprises an independent scientific review of the literature to assess the impact of cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), lead (Pb) and zinc (Zn) (metals nominated in the environmental Regime) on edibility of food crops produced in the Fly River flood plain, downstream of the Ok Tedi mining operation. The review addresses several specific issues relating to soil metal availability to crop plants, with the objective of assisting OTML to fulfil its monitoring obligations under the Regime.
