Diagram of Operations
- Ore is mined from an open pit, where it is crushed and conveyed to the mill for processing. The resulting concentrate is a slurry.
- The slurry is transported through a 157-kilometre pipeline that has an internal diameter of 150 millimetres.
- The pipeline takes the slurry to the river port of Kiunga, where the concentrate is filtered and dried.
- The dried concentrate is then shipped down the Fly River in barges.
- The concentrate is stored in a silo vessel anchored in the Gulf of Papua or at Port Moresby depending on weather conditions. The concentrate is then loaded onto ocean-going ships destined for international customers.
