Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) is committed to conducting its operations in a socially responsible manner that respects cultural heritage and human rights.
The Company maintains an open and transparent dialogue with the impacted communities and the government. The Community Relations Department carries out extensive consultation with all the communities affected by the operations.
The Company acknowledges that without a social licence granted by the CMCA communities and the government, OTML would not be able to operate.
Social responsibility programmes include recruiting from local areas wherever possible, engaging local business for contract services and developing partnerships with the local communities, governments and business in order to improve long term social and economic development in the Western Province.
OTML assisted the mine affected communities with a donation of PGK5 million during the 2015 dry weather period to disaster relief to purchase food as part of the corporate social responsibility.
