nation-building
As Papua New Guinea continues its journey as a rapidly developing nation, Ok Tedi is proud to play a role in supporting its progress. Through diversified business practices and community partnerships, Ok Tedi is committed to helping Papua New Guinea realise its Vision 2050 — a future defined by smart, fair, and sustainable growth for all.
Delivering projects, developing futures
We work consistently to enrich and uplift our communities, developing long-term sustainable outcomes that improve the quality of life in the Western Province.
The Ok Tedi Development Foundation (OTDF) is our non-profit committed to managing the development and delivery of projects to the 157 villages in the Community Mine Continuation Agreement (CMCA) area of the Western Province and Telefomin District, Sandaun Province.
The OTDF works in partnership with communities and their existing governance structures to provide strategic planning, technical services, networking assistance, and financial and in-kind resources to build capacity and self-sufficiency within the local communities.

Secure fuel for uninterrupted aviation
Inconsistent supply of Jet A1 fuel at remote airports has long been the cause of flight cancellations, delays, and payload restrictions, significantly limiting regional connectivity and impacting medivac, charter, and essential air services across Papua New Guinea.
To support the country’s aviation connectivity and national resilience, Ok Tedi is leveraging existing infrastructure and our own fuel logistics framework to replace the current high-risk supply arrangements with a single, quality-assured delivery model.
Ok Tedi Energy is establishing a secure Jet A1 refuelling network across 19 remote airports, ensuring consistent, compliant fuel delivery and restore reliable aviation operations to underserved regional ports.
Works will include installation of refuelling infrastructure, civil and utility, setup of support facilities, and full commissioning, training and handover at each location.
Facilities are already operational at key locations such as Tabubil, Kiunga and Lae, with further locations underway.

Powering progress – ‘lighting up the west’
Ok Tedi is the largest power user in the Western Province, sustainably generating the majority of its power from the hydroelectric power stations at Ok Menga and Yuk Creek.
Ok Tedi Power Limited (OTPL) currently manages the retail power supply and distribution for Tabubil, Kiunga, Ningerum and Balimo, as well as numerous mini-grids in Tutuwe, Middle Fly and South Fly.
However, the rapid economic expansion and population growth in some areas have increased demand on the already stressed power supply.
In line with PNG’s Vision 2050 which aims to increase rural electrification to 100% of the population, we are undertaking a series of strategic actions to build the required capacity and sustain growth into the future.
OTPL is currently rolling out the Kiunga Grid Extension Project (KGEP), the first step in “Lighting up the West” – our aspiration to develop sustainable power generation capabilities and deliver reliable electricity to communities throughout the Western Province.
Healthy people, thriving communities
The services offered by Ok Tedi Health extend beyond the mine site, spreading benefits to all surrounding areas.
Ok Tedi owns and operates the Tabubil Hospital, an accredited five-star facility under the PNG Department of Health system.
The hospital provides comprehensive healthcare services to all mine staff, business partners, and surrounding communities, including general practice, maternity care and mental health support.
Our health services also include health clinics throughout the North Fly District and a Medivac program.
We are currently working through a strategic plan to guide the future development of our healthcare services which will see the modernisation and upgrade of existing medical facilities, the possible introduction of drone medical services, and partnerships with specialised healthcare providers.
Through the implementation of our strategic healthcare development plan, we are committed to elevating healthcare services for our workforce and surrounding communities.

Support from our neighbours
The complex logistics needs of operating a mine in the mountains of the Western Province requires a trusted logistics partner.
Ok Tedi Australia (OTA) is the logistics supply partner for Ok Tedi’s mining operations.
From its warehouse at the Port of Brisbane, OTA uses specially chosen air and sea freight providers to supply our mine locations with everything from laptop computers to dump trucks.
The Brisbane-based OTA is also the home of our Marketing and Project Financing teams.
Assuming control of our copper concentrate from the moment it leaves our stockpile, our Marketing team ensures our product finds a home with our international smelter partners.
Our Project Financing works to secure financial support for the expansion, exploration and social impact projects that form Ok Tedi’s Growth 2050 strategy.
A gold project for PNG
On 11th July 2025, Ok Tedi completed the transaction to acquire the Misima Gold and Silver Project.
The Misima open pit mine was in operation from 1989 until 2004 under Placer Dome, producing 3.7Moz of gold during it’s 15 years of operation.
We are very excited to welcome the Misima mine to the Ok Tedi group and look forward unlocking more value for the people of Papua New Guinea.
More information will be provided as the project develops.
