Ok Tedi Mining Limited (Ok Tedi) proudly commemorated ANZAC Day last month with a dawn service in Tabubil, bringing together employees, community members, and honoured guests to reflect shared history of service and sacrifice.
The service was attended by members of Ok Tedi’s leadership team, representatives of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF), and a representative of the Australian High Commission.
Former Ok Tedi General Manager Operations Mr Ben Burger said ANZAC Day remains a powerful reminder of the enduring ANZAC spirit.
“ANZAC Day is more than a date on the calendar, it is a moment to pause and remember the courage, mateship, and resilience shown by Australian, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinean soldiers and civilians,” Mr Burger said.
“The bonds forged in wartime, particularly here in Papua New Guinea, continue to shape our shared values today.”
Australian High Commission First Secretary for Infrastructure Lucinda Bruderlin also acknowledged the importance of remembrance and partnership.
“ANZAC Day reminds us of the deep and enduring connection between Australia and Papua New Guinea. By honoring the past, we strengthen our shared commitment to peace, cooperation, and mutual respect for the future,” Ms Bruderlin said.
The dawn service honoured the courage, service, and sacrifice of Australian, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinean servicemen and women, as well as civilians who supported them during times of conflict.
Ok Tedi remains committed to recognising significant national and historical events that bring communities together and celebrate shared values of remembrance, respect and unity.
